Ides Relevant to Coursework
Quotations in which i agree with:
"The making of the new and the re arranging of the old" (Bentley 1997)
I completely agree with this theory as in our media coursework we did both, re arrange the old aspects and examples that we looked at and then evolved them to create our own idea.
"There is no absolute judgement [on creativity] All judgements are comparisons of one thing with another." (Donald Larning)
I agree with this quote by Donald Larning, who is to judge whether somebody else's work is creative or not? It is down to their though process and the effort and mind set they put into it. However copies of other work i would consider not to be creative and then therefore we are able to see that the creator/ person has not gathered that idea themselves. We as a class did this with our own pieces of coursework.
Quotations in which i disagree with:
"Technology has taken all the creativity out of media production"
Disagree, there are elements to media products still that people have created and are new. Unfortunately these elements are still then put forward and re-created by others who are inspired, as a task in the lead up to our media coursework pieces, we did infact look and take inspiration from other media texts and incorprit into our own work.
"Creativity results from the interaction of a system composed of threeelements: a culture that contains symbolic rules, a person who brings noveltyinto the symbolic domain, and a field of experts who recognise and validatethe innovation." (Csikszentmihalyi 1996)
I disagree with this statement as you don't have to be an expert to be creative, and there is most certainly not three elements that you HAVE to follow to compose the system of 'creativty', surely creativity is in fact something spontaneous and not focused on too much. I did not follow a particular pattern when making my coursework, i did however change aspects and mixed the conventions around to make a creative piece of media coursework.
Theories and Ideas
"A process needed for problem solving...not a special gift enjoyed by a few buta common ability possessed by most people" (Jones 1993)
In some respects i agree with this quotation as creativity is not a gift but more like a talent or mind set that you may or may not have. However most people do have it as each individual may be creative in respects to different things or talents.
"A project that is too well planned lacks opportunities for spontaneity and creativity."
I partly agree with this theory, although our coursework was researched, we didn't necessary plan the idea but more to the point refine it through a drafts.
"Media producers can learn nothing from studying the conventions of old texts"
I disagree with this statement as we can only introduce new elements with old elements to gather creativity and also, old elements of media will be reflective of the media in dependant on the subject.
The creation of bringing something new into existence-"This particular understanding of creativity involves the physical making of something, leading to some form of communication, expression or revelation." (David Gauntlett)

I agree with this quote as although you think something through when coming up with a piece of creativity, you also in one way or another physically make it, expressing it through communication to relevance.
"If creativity is not inherent in human mental powers and is, in fact, social and situational, then technological developments may well be linked to advances in the creativity of individual users" (Banaji, Burn and Buckingham, 2006).
Disagree, creativity is nor inherited or developed from technologies else there would be no new ideas in relation to the technologies. You also shouldn't need to depend on your parents to weather they are creative, if anything they would encourage you more and inspire if creative themselves.

Evaluation- AS to A2 Coursework
AS Evaluation:
Microsoft Word:
For my AS coursework evaluation i just typed up my paragraphs into posts missing out the use of software's such as Animoto and Prezi. On the other hand i used a different element of software relating to the evaluation questions for each one to give a more interesting approach for a read, this also shown off my skills on the programs that i have wrote up my research and planning one, these were also developed over the period of my AS and A2 levels.

What is creativity?
The Thesaurus definition of creativity is:
Originality, imagination, inspiration, ingenuity, inventiveness, resourcefulness, creativeness, vision and innovation.
Task:
Taking each of these words in turn, apply them to the pieces of coursework you have created at AS and A2. Create a mind map for each of your coursework pieces, justifying how you have demonstrated any of them.
How creative do you think you've been?
What has prevented you from being more creative?
Has a set menu of tasks made it easier to be creative or would you havepreferred a free choice on what you could make? Were you pinneddown too much by the task, or did it free you up to be creative withinthe boundaries of the task?

Creativity
What is Creativity?
Originality, imagination, inspiration, ingenuity, inventiveness, resourcefulness, creativeness, vision and innovation.
Inspiration
We used inspiation in both our AS coursework and our A2 coursework, both for the same research and planning section, however we just looked at different pieces of work to get different inspiration. For our AS coursework we mainly got our inspiration from photographs of celebritys from magazines and photoshoots, we also looked into different types of photoshop editing. However for our A2 coursework we looked more at music video and artists work for inspiration, we still did look at images to get ideas for fashion and make-up.
Imagination
We used our imagination in our AS coursework when decided on how to edit our photographs, where to take them and how to position everything on the page to make the layout look good and presentable. We used imagination in our A2 music video by deciding firstly on our storyboard after looking at reserach, we then used it again when deciding where to film and how to put it all together on editing software.
Originality
Originality was used in our AS coursework with certain aspects such as thinking of the titles for our magazines, it was also used again with the photos with deciding how to have them and where to take them. For our A2 coursework we used originality with thinking of the artists name and how we wanted her to be portayed to our target audiance.

A Breif Description of my Coursework.
In my AS coursework we were asked to produce a magazine front cover, double page spread and a contents page. I began by researching a range of different music magazines and there particular genres, then i decided on my genre to be R&B as i have a particular interest in artists such as Rihanna and Beyonce, i then took my interests further and took a look into there styles of fonts, colours, costumes, and themes which i could adapt to my own ideas to. Throughout my research and planning after taking into consideration the typical conventions of a magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread i then had to decide what audience i was aiming my magazine at. In the end i chose teenages and not a specific gender due to the male gaze, as i would have both male and female artist on the front attracting each sex. I evaluated my work by comparing my original design specification ideas to the final product.
For my A2 coursework the main topic was to aim to create a music video consisting of techniques and conventions that we had research and specified for out final product. Along with the music video we created an artists identity and had to complete a magazine advert promoting the artists knew album, and therefore also design and product a digi-pak for our artist. The research consisted of looking through the different most common music video conventions that i could use, i also reviewed the make-up, costumes, and themes that came up for the genres. I chose my genre after picking my song due to the enthusiams i had for the song 'Fast Car' by Tracy Chapman. As a group we seperated the work equally in to the designing and refying of our design specifications. We took time out to evaluate each peices of completed work whether it was mocks, drafts or the final finished product, this helped us inprove certain factors that not only we thought we could improve.
